Fluff: the cult American marshmallow creme, to spread on just about anything!

Marshmallow Fluff is that white, light, ultra-indulgent marshmallow creme that Americans have been spreading for over a century. The star ingredient of the famous Fluffernutter β€” the peanut butter and marshmallow sandwich β€” and of a thousand sweet recipes. Vanilla, strawberry, caramel: get ready to get hooked. So good!

So what exactly is Fluff?

Marshmallow Fluff is a spreadable marshmallow creme: an airy, glossy, sticky texture, somewhere between a cloud and soft caramel. You spread it on bread, pancakes, cookies, stir it into desserts or eat it straight off the spoon (no judgment). It's an absolute staple of American pantries, especially in New England, its historic home.

A story that goes back to 1917

The adventure begins in Somerville, Massachusetts. In 1917, a confectioner named Archibald Query developed his own marshmallow creme recipe in his kitchen and sold it door to door. But World War I and sugar rationing forced him to stop. Two childhood friends, H. Allen Durkee and Fred L. Mower, just back from France, bought the recipe from him for $500 in 1920. The Durkee-Mower company was born β€” and it still makes Fluff today, in its factory in Lynn, Massachusetts. More than 100 years later, it's still the same recipe.

Did you know there's a Fluff festival?

Fluff is so woven into local culture that the city of Somerville throws the "What the Fluff? Festival" every year, drawing tens of thousands of visitors. There was even a bill proposed to make the Fluffernutter the official sandwich of the state of Massachusetts! Not bad for a creme invented in a neighborhood kitchen.

The Fluff flavors at MYAM

The Vanilla Fluff β€” the original! The classic marshmallow creme, sweet and vanilla-flavored, the one in every recipe. The must-have base for a real Fluffernutter.

The Strawberry Fluff β€” the fruity version! That same cloud-like texture with a nice sweet strawberry taste. Perfect on toast, crΓͺpes or with fresh fruit.

The Caramel Fluff β€” the indulgent version! Caramel notes that add an even more decadent touch to the marshmallow creme. Delicious on ice cream or in a hot chocolate.

A fan's tip: the real Fluffernutter

The most indulgent American sandwich in the world comes together in 2 minutes: take two slices of nice soft sandwich bread. Spread peanut butter generously on one, Vanilla Fluff on the other. Put them together. That's it. The contrast between the salty peanut butter and the airy sweet marshmallow is the whole of an American childhood in one bite. To take it further, grill it in a pan like a grilled sandwich β€” seriously good.
