Rocky Mountain: the marshmallows with the airy texture and vanilla flavor of the real American marshmallow!
The American marshmallow is a whole different story from the European one. Lighter, airier, with a more pronounced vanilla and a texture that melts differently with heat — perfect for S'mores, hot cocoa and Rice Krispies Treats. Rocky Mountain is the No.1 American marshmallow brand sold outside the US, the one specialty grocery stores and American cooking fans snap up all over the world. My American Market brings them to you straight!
MoreDid you know the modern marshmallow was invented in 1948?
The marshmallow had existed for centuries — the ancient Egyptians already made a confection from the "marsh mallow" plant. But the cylindrical marshmallow we know today — soft, uniform, with that perfect ratio between a crisp exterior and a soft interior — was invented in 1948 by Doumak Inc., an American family company. Their revolutionary extrusion process made it possible to produce marshmallows en masse, uniform and perfect. Rocky Mountain is Doumak's international brand — the one they created specially to share the American recipe with the rest of the world.
What's the difference between an American and a European marshmallow?
The difference is real and noticeable. The Rocky Mountain American marshmallow is lighter and airier — the internal structure is more porous, which gives it that texture that melts in the mouth rather than sticking to the teeth. The vanilla flavor is more pronounced and natural. And above all: it holds up much better to cooking. For S'mores (see below), the American marshmallow caramelizes on the outside while staying gooey inside — the perfect result!
The 5 Rocky Mountain formats
- Rocky Mountain Mini — the classic little white marshmallows! Perfect for hot cocoa (American hot chocolate), cereals, fruit salads, cake decorations and Rice Krispies Treats. The most versatile format!
- Rocky Mountain Classic — the standard marshmallow, the best-known format. Ideal for S'mores, skewers, chocolate fondues and all classic uses.
- Rocky Mountain Mega — the giant marshmallow! For XXL S'mores, impressive skewers and campfire nights. The "go big or go home" version!
- Rocky Mountain Mini Fruity — the multicolored fruity mini marshmallows! Pink, yellow, green, orange — soft fruity flavors in a mini format. Perfect for decorating desserts, cocktails and colorful candy platters.
- Rocky Mountain Fruity — the standard-format fruity marshmallows. The same multicolored fruity flavors but in normal size — for fruity S'mores and colorful skewers!
The must-have American recipes with Rocky Mountain
S'mores: THE American campfire recipe since the 1920s. Skewer a Rocky Mountain Classic or Mega marshmallow. Hold it over a flame (candle, lighter, barbecue), turning slowly until it's golden and lightly caramelized. Place it between two Graham Cracker biscuits with a square of chocolate. Press. The hot marshmallow melts the chocolate — "Some More" — hence the name S'mores!
Hot Cocoa: Prepare an intense hot chocolate, pour into a large mug, and add a generous handful of Rocky Mountain Mini. Watch them slowly melt on the surface — it's the American Christmas breakfast par excellence!
Rice Krispies Treats: Melt 40g of butter in a saucepan. Add 300g of Rocky Mountain Mini. Stir until the marshmallows are melted. Remove from heat and fold in 175g of Rice Krispies cereal. Spread in a tin, let cool. Cut into squares. It's as simple as it is delicious!
