In 1908, Salvatore Ferrara left Sicily to settle in Chicago. A trained pastry chef, he started out making sugared almonds for the Italian community's weddings. But his sweet genius would quickly show itself through typically American confections. In 1926, he created the Lemonhead — the little tangy lemon ball that would become an absolute classic of American candy shops. More than a century later, the brand belongs to Ferrero and keeps delighting millions of Americans!
