In 1916, Clayton J. Howel and Neil C. Ward officially founded the Orange Crush Company — and it was a revolution in the soda world. Before them, everyone drank cola or root beer. The idea of making a soda with a real fruit flavor was radically new. The brand exploded in the 1920s, then the 1930s brought Grape Crush, Strawberry Crush, Pineapple Crush... Fans multiplied, and Crush established itself as THE benchmark for American fruit sodas.
