In Europe, Smarties = the little Nestlé chocolates. In the US, Smarties = rolls of pressed fruity candies, multicolored, that crunch under the teeth. They're two totally different brands, with no link between them. American Smarties are made by the Smarties Candy Company in Union, New Jersey — a family business founded in 1949 by Edward Dee, an English immigrant, and still run today by his three granddaughters. The Dee family — three generations of candy with no compromise

In 1949, Edward "Eddie" Dee left England to settle in Bloomfield, New Jersey. With a single tablet-pressing machine and a wrapping machine rented in a factory, he started making rolls of pressed fruity candies — inspired by the European confections he knew, but with an American identity. The recipe is simple and direct: dextrose, citric acid, natural and artificial flavors. Allergen-free, vegan, gluten-free, fat-free. Perfect for everyone!

Today, the Smarties Candy Company produces more than a billion rolls a year at its plants in New Jersey and Ontario, Canada. The company is run by Sarah Dee, Liz Dee and Jessica Dee Sawyer — Eddie's three granddaughters, all co-presidents. A 3-generation family brand that never gave in to mass distribution. The name was changed from Ce De Candy to Smarties Candy Company in 2011 — in tribute to their flagship product!

Classic Smarties are those little fruity tablets in rolls — the American Halloween candy par excellence, handed out to kids by millions of households every October 31st. But the Smarties Candy Company didn't stop there: the Squashies range is their line of modern candies, soft and gummy — a texture completely different from the classic tablets.

Smarties Squashies Mixed Fruit are foam gummy candies — soft, light, with a mousse-like texture that melts in the mouth. Three fruit flavors mixed in each bag: Orange & Pineapple (soft orange and pineapple), Lemon & Lime (tangy, lively lemon-lime), Cherry & Black Currant (fruity, intense cherry and blackcurrant).
