Mott's: the American applesauce born at a New York cider mill in 1842!

In 1842, Samuel Roger Mott — just 16 years old — started selling cider and apple vinegar to his neighbours in Halfmoon, New York, using techniques learned from his grandfather Zebulon. Almost 200 years later, Mott's is America's #1 applesauce brand. Mott's No Sugar Added is available at My American Market — 100% apples, zero added sugar, the pure taste of American apple!

Did you know Mott's first apples came from Johnny Appleseed's orchards?

John Chapman — known as "Johnny Appleseed" — is one of 19th-century America's legendary figures: he seeded thousands of apple trees across Ohio and Indiana. Zebulon Mott's farm was in the region where Johnny Appleseed's orchards had flourished — and it was with those apples that Samuel launched his cider and vinegar business. In 1876, Mott's products were exhibited at Philadelphia's Centennial Exposition. In 1985, Mott's was the first brand in the world to offer applesauce in individual plastic cups. Today owned by Keurig Dr Pepper.

American applesauce vs European apple compote — what's the difference?

Mott's No Sugar Added applesauce differs from European apple compote in several ways. The texture is smoother and more homogeneous — almost silky. The apple flavour is more intense and fresh, thanks to a carefully selected mix of varieties (Gala, Fuji, Golden Delicious). And with no added sugar, it's the natural sweetness of the apples that shines — more honest, less sweet than many European compotes. Americans eat it alone, alongside roast pork, with pancakes, on toast with peanut butter, or as a snack for kids.

Where to buy Mott's in Europe?
