Herr's, an American family story

In 1946, 21-year-old James S. "Jim" Herr bought a small potato chip company in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, for $1,750. At first, sales barely reached $30 a week! But Jim had a nose for business and unshakeable determination. On September 5, 1951, disaster struck: a fire completely destroyed the factory. Instead of giving up, Jim and his wife Mim chose to rebuild everything — on a plot in Nottingham, where the company is still based today. By spring 1952, production was back up and running stronger than ever.

Decade after decade, the company grew into the largest family-owned, independent snack maker in the United States — still run by the Herr family, now in its third generation. Herr's products are now sold in more than 37 countries. Over 75 years of chips, cheese curls and popcorn, with one obsession: taste and quality.
